Martha Stewart is revealing her very considerate reason for handing out cash to trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
The businesswoman and TV personality, 84, shared her reasoning behind the extra special treats she hands out on Halloween during a September appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. The show's official Instagram account shared the hilarious clip on Thursday, Oct. 30.
"I heard a rumor that you might sometimes give a bill to a trick-or-treater," host Drew Barrymore, 50, asked the Entertaining author, to which she responded candidly, "Oh, I do. I do."
"Cash?" Barrymore then confirmed, prompting Stewart to explain how it's like a reward for the visitors who brave the "scary" pathway up to her home.

"We get very few [trick-or-treaters]. I live on a remote farm," she said, referring to her 150-acre property in Bedford, N.Y.
She continued, "And to get to my farm it's pretty scary. So if anybody dares come up to the door, they get, you know, some cash with the candy. It's payment."
Looking around at the audience, Barrymore joked, "Well I know where I'll be this Halloween."
Stewart first revealed she gives out cash on Halloween during a conversation with Vogue published in October 2024.
"I live on a farm now, so the gate is always decorated, and the security guard has to open the gate for children who are trick-or-treating" she told the outlet at the time. "I usually give children an assortment of candies – quite a few candies — in a bag and a little cash too."

Despite her claims that she gets "very few" visitors to her home during her recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, she told Vogue that she's "never home" on the spooky holiday as she tries "to be out and about."
As Stewart is a spooky season enthusiast, it's no surprise that she goes all out for trick-or-treaters.

While sharing a behind-the-scenes look at some of her costumes for her Halloween cover shoot last year, Stewart shared in a statement with PEOPLE how the season is a time she "looks forward to every year."
"Come September, I'm ready to go apple picking in the orchard and start selecting interesting pumpkins from the patch to display on the farm and around my home," she said. "This year, my editors crowned me Queen of Halloween! As they well know, I truly love to dream up a great costume and get in the spirit."
