Chris Rock is making jokes — at his own expense — about ex-wife Malaak Compton-Rock.
The comedian, 60, appeared as a presenter at the 2025 Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards at New York City's Museum of Modern Art on Oct. 29. The event, honoring groundbreakers in various fields, included singer-songwriter Billie Eilish among its award recipients.
"Billie Eilish is giving away money from her tour to charity," said Rock in his remarks onstage, referencing the news Stephen Colbert had broken in introducing an award for Eilish, 23. The Oscar-winning musician will be donating proceeds from her recent Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour to support organizations dedicated to food equity, climate justice and more.
"That's beautiful," commented Rock. "The percentage of my tour is gonna go to my ex-wife, of course."

Compton-Rock, 56, married the Grown Ups star in 1996. The couple, who share daughters Lola and Zahra, separated in 2014 and finalized their divorce in 2016.
"It's like I always say, I lost so much money in my divorce," joked Rock at the Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards, "when my friends are getting divorced, I recommend my ex-wife's attorney."
The event isn't the first time Rock has joked about his costly divorce. Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel back in 2021, he relayed that he had given John Mulaney that same recommendation. "I was like 'You should get this guy, he'll get you your money,'" he recalled. "'This guy is good, 'cause I walked out with nothing.'"
Rock's jokes onstage preceded his introduction of husband-and-wife duo George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, recognized by the Wall Street Journal in the design category for their work on the upcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles.

"If you met them, that you would think he was the money guy and she was the creative, like, made the movies," quipped Rock. Lucas "has spent his life turning imagination into reality from the first sketches of a galaxy far, far away to Indiana Jones," he said, calling Hobson "an incredible strategist, a CEO, a brilliant money manager."
Rock concluded that the couple's museum "is a love letter to imagination and to collaboration, the kind that happens when two people from very different worlds share one bold belief that art belongs to everyone."
