Alien: Earth episode 6, "The Fly," premiered Sept. 9 on FX and Hulu

The episode features a tense meeting between Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) and Yutani (Sandra Yi Sencindiver)

Series creator Noah Hawley says "The Fly" contains "probably the most disturbing scene that people will see on television this year"

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Alien: Earth!

The Neverland Research Island is becoming nothing but nightmares.

The chaos continues in Alien: Earth episode 6, "The Fly," which features a few character deaths, and Yutani (Sandra Yi Sencindiver) desperate to reclaim the alien specimens onboard the crashed USS Maginot spaceship.

All the while, the songs "Keep Away" by Godsmack and "Tessellate" by Alt-J play in the background as intense scenes unfold.

In the latest episode, Tootles (Kit Young), one of the Lost Boy hybrids, met his demise, though not because of a terrifying Xenomorph. Instead, an evil mutated sheep was to blame.

"I sat down and I wrote what is probably the most disturbing scene that people will see on television this year, you know, with the sheep," series creator Noah Hawley told Decider.

So what happened to Tootles, and what does his death mean for the Prodigy Corporation and the Neverland Research Island? Here's Alien: Earth episode 6 explained.

What is Yutani's plan?

Yutani, the CEO of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, meets with Prodigy Corporation founder Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) to discuss transferring the alien specimens from his Neverland Research Island back to Yutani's possession.

After negotiating a $20 billion settlement, Boy Kavalier agrees to return the creatures, but not until the six-week off-world quarantine period ends. Boy Kavalier ends the meeting thinking he has won, but Yutani has another scheme already in play.

Once the meeting between Yutani and Boy Kavalier is over, Morrow (Babou Ceesay) — the cyborg who was aboard the Maginot and is working for Yutani — tells the CEO that he could have "one of the Xenomorphs by the end of the day."

His plan? To "destabilize the facility and exfil in the chaos."

Yutani nods, sending Morrow on his mission to retrieve the Xenomorph by any means necessary.

How does Tootles die?

Kit Young in "Alien: Earth"

Following Kirsh's (Timothy Olyphant) orders, Tootles goes into the lab to feed and water the creatures. While Tootles attempts to feed the alien flies, the alien sheep head-butts the glass. Startled, Tootles accidentally locks himself in the containment area, and the flies kill him.Boy Kavalier has been touting that the hybrids cannot die, effectively making human consciousness immortal. Tootles' death will send ramifications, as it proves that hybrids can be killed.

"It's utter panic, because everything that Prodigy is building the hybrids on is a lie," actor Young told Variety, while discussing his character's death. "All of these corporations are trying to achieve immortality through very different methods, and with Prodigy, it's with these bodies."

In an interview with Collider, Young revealed that he knew Tootles' fate "from the beginning."

"I knew that it was happening, and I knew it was going to be quite tragic and quite gruesome. I don't think I knew which creature it was going to be," the actor continued. "Obviously, we have the creatures that we know from the Alien franchise, but Noah [Hawley] was creating whole new threats."

Why does Hermit want to escape the Neverland Research Island?

Alex Lawther in "Alien: Earth"

Over the course of the season, Hermit (Alex Lawther) has become increasingly skeptical of the Prodigy Corporation's true objective with the hybrids and aliens. He realizes the Neverland Research Island is more of a prison than a scientific facility, and starts to make an escape plan for himself and his sister Wendy (Sydney Chandler).

In the episode, Hermit sketches a map of the center, making notes of exits. He also confronts Arthur (David Rysdahl), asking him if Wendy is safe on the island.

Arthur secretly types out a message to Hermit on the computer, telling him to take Wendy and "get her out," and gives him the code to access a boat off the island.

Why does Slightly let Arthur be killed by the facehugger?

Following directions from Morrow, Slightly (Adarsh Gourav) has been trying unsuccessfully to lure someone into the alien research lab, but at the end of the episode, Slightly finally accomplishes his mission.

After questioning the wiping of Nibs' (Lily Newmark) memory, Arthur is fired and told to leave the island. While packing up his items, Arthur realizes Tootles is offline. He goes into the lab and finds Tootles' body.

Unbeknownst to Arthur, Slightly follows him, and he locks Arthur in the lab. He is then attacked by a facehugger, which attaches to him as a host. As Alien fans know, the facehugger will impregnate its host with a Xenomorph embryo, which eventually bursts from the host's chest.

In the final scene, Slightly enters the lab and drags Arthur's body into an air duct, continuing his mission to get Morrow a Xenomorph.
