The House Oversight Committee published the birthday note to Jeffrey Epstein purportedly written by President Donald Trump.
The letter, which was part of a wider book of notes to Epstein released Sept. 8, shows a cryptic conversation between "Jeffrey" and "Donald," surrounded by the outline of a woman and Trump's purported signature in the place of public hair.
The Wall Street Journal reported on the letter in July, drawing a lawsuit from the president who called the story "false, malicious, and defamatory."
Even after the birthday letters were posted, the White House continued to call the letter fake. Here is what to know about the new release:

The letter allegedly from Trump to Epstein was part of a book with dozens of other letters that was presented to Epstein in 2003 for his 50th birthday. Democrats on the committee posted the letter alone before the Republican leadership posted the entire book.

Several prominent Republican influencers have questioned the letter's legitmacy by saying that the signature on the birthday letter looks different than the president's signature.
An analysis from the New York Times points out that the signature on the letter more closely mirrors others from that time period when Trump only signs with his first name, rather than the first and last.
Here are other images of Trump's signature:

This check from 2017 was entered into evidence during Trump's hush money trial in New York where he was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records:
'Enigmas never age:' What does enigmas mean?
The letter reads, "Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?" The line is attributed to "Donald" in this mock conversation.
An "enigma" is something difficult to understand, according Merriam-Webster. It can also be a "mysterious person," or an "obscure speech or writing."
What did Trump say when the letter was first reported?
Trump previously denied writing the letter and sued the Wall Street Journal over its report of the letter in July. He said the letter was "FAKE" and named defendants Dow Jones & Company, News Corporation, owner Rupert Murdoch and reporters Khadeeja Safdar and Joseph Palazzolo in the lawsuit seeking $10 billion in damages.
"The Wall Street Journal, and Rupert Murdoch, personally, were warned directly by President Donald J. Trump that the supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE and, if they print it, they will be sued," Trump said in a Truth Social post.
"These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don't draw pictures," he said in another post.
Did Trump sign the letter? Here is what his team says
Trump's team continutously denies that the letter is from Trump.
"As I have said all along, it's very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it," press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a social media post on Sept. 8. "President Trump's legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation."
"It's not his signature. DEFAMATION!" deputy White House chief of staff Taylor Budowich posted on social media.
As lawmakers eye forcing a vote on releasing all of the files on Epstein, Trump has called the effort a "Democrat hoax."
