Universal Pictures debuted a new trailer for Wicked: For Good on Wednesday, Sept. 24

Wicked: For Good is in theaters everywhere Nov. 21
Something bad is happening in Oz!
Gone are the days of Glinda and Elphaba putting pink flowers in each other's hair after the finale trailer for Wicked: For Good dropped on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) and Ariana Grande (Glinda) are more at-odds than ever before as they face off in a tense battle that even gets physical as Glinda slams her new wand against Elphaba's broom in one scene on the yellow brick road.
"I'm a public figure now, people expect me to..." Glinda begins, as Elphaba sarcastically cuts in, "Fly?"
"Be encouraging!" Glinda finishes, angrily.

Fans of the Broadway musical off which the film is based will be excited to hear snippets from Glinda's "Thank Goodness" and Elphaba's powerhouse war song, "No Good Deed."
There also appears to be a wedding ceremony between Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) and Glinda which goes awry thanks to a group of stampeding animals, as Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) declares, "This is the work of the Wicked Witch!"
Fans will also get a glimpse at what appears to be a shot from Elphaba and Fiyero's passionate love song, "As Long as Your Mine," which features them locked in one another's embrace as they float through the air.

There are also some lighter moments, including Glinda receiving her flying bubble and announcing, "I'm obsess-u-lated!" in her traditional over-the-top fashion.
And though there are tensions, or "quarrels," as Glinda would say, there are also sweet moments between the school friends, who repeat their Ozdust Ballroom dance choreography in one scene with the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).

The trailer features some close-up looks at the Cowardly Lion, the newly minted Tin Man and an over-the-shoulder look at Elphaba gazing into the face of the Scarecrow before they join Dorothy on her adventures.
And for those infamous ruby slippers, there's a shot of Elphaba's sister Nessa Rose (Marissa Bode) levitating in the air as her heirloom sparkling heels turn ruby red.

The film, which is set to be released on Nov. 21, is the highly anticipated part 2 after 2024's box office blockbuster: Wicked: Part 1.
Again directed by Jon M. Chu and adapted by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox based on Holzman and Stephen Schwartz's long-running Broadway musical about L. Frank Baum's Oz, Wicked: For Good picks up where last year's installment left off.

After Elphaba is branded the Wicked Witch of the West by the Wizard and Madame Morrible, she is on the run, "continuing her fight for the freedom of Oz's silenced Animals," per an official synopsis. "Glinda, meanwhile, has become the glamorous symbol of Goodness for all of Oz, living at the palace in Emerald City and reveling in the perks of fame and popularity," the synopsis reads.
She and Elphaba "will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good."

Wicked, after wowing critics and the box office alike, becoming the highest-grossing stage-to-screen adaptation of all time, went on to earn two Oscars and 10 total nominations at the 2025 ceremony.
The sequel's first trailer, released on June 4, features Erivo, 38, singing parts of "No Good Deed," as well as duetting on "As Long as You're Mine" with Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero and the titular "For Good" with Grande, 31. The latter is shown floating inside her magic bubble, while Elphaba takes to the skies via broomstick.

"I think you can expect a little bit of spice in the second part because they've grown up a little bit," Erivo told PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly of the two-part story's characters in February. "They're not in school anymore; they've stepped into their careers and stepped into their choices."
Universal Pictures will release Wicked: For Good, also costarring Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Ethan Slater and more, in theaters Nov. 21. The first movie is available to stream on Peacock.
