Everyone goes through an awkward phase, even megawatt movie stars like Chris Pine.

Pine, 43, was dropped right back into one of the hardest and most uncomfortable periods of his life during the Thursday, May 9 episode of the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast. Host Josh Horowitz asked the Poolman actor to recount his bombed audition for Fox's The O.C., which aired from 2003 to 2007. While Pine would go on to prove he has leading man chops, his acting wasn't what got him eliminated from the casting call — it was his "awful skin."

"I was going out for The O.C., a teenage melodrama. I can understand that they wanted to have pretty people doing pretty things," he said, with the benefit of hindsight. "It's no fun going out for roles when you have bad skin. It was one of the most traumatic points in my life."

In Welcome to the O.C.: The Oral History, released last fall, casting director Patrick Rush revealed that Pine's acne was the reason he didn't score the role of Ryan Atwood, which went to Benjamin McKenzie.

Rewinding 'The O.C.': Counting Down the Show's Most Iconic Moments

"I hate saying this, but it's the truth: Chris Pine was at the age where he was experiencing really bad skin problems. And it was at that point where it looked insurmountable," Rush said in the book. "And as a kid who grew up with horrible skin, it just broke my heart."

On Thursday's podcast, Horowitz offered that not landing a role on the Fox soap might have been a blessing, giving the way his career turned out.

"I don't want to say I'm grateful for not having landed The O.C., but …" Pine agreed.

Pine also took a moment to raise awareness that acne can be more than just a passing time in a young person's life.

"Acne is regarded as this thing; it's like what you go through as a teenager," he said. "It can also be tremendously debilitating and, like, really seriously emotionally incapacitating."

'Welcome to the O.C.' Book's Biggest Bombshells: Mischa Barton's Exit, More

Pine went on to say that he hopes people dealing with persistent, long-term skin issues know that it does eventually get better.

"Anyone out there who's experiencing that, I get you. I hear you. I've been there. I know it. I know how depressing it can be and the kind of depths of sorrow it can drag you to but there is a brighter day," he said.

Pine's career is proof of that. Shortly after The O.C. first aired, Pine's career got a jump-start with a role in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. The 2004 movie offered him $65,000 to play one of lead Anne Hathaway's potential suitors, an amount of money he said was "earth-shattering" at the time.

Since then, Pine has taken on two of the most iconic characters in all of nerdom with roles as Captain Kirk in three Star Trek films and Wonder Woman love interest Steve Trevor. His attitude toward everything from negative reviews to his own outfits proves that he's learned to let incidents like one bad casting call roll off his back.

"The guy on the Chiefs," is getting more special nods on The Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift kicked off the European leg of The Eras Tour in Paris on May 9. The performance marked the first time she incorporated songs from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, into the setlist, in addition to debuting new costumes and switching the order of the show's eras segments.

Swifties quickly noticed the TTPD set included many Easter eggs about Travis Kelce, whom she's been dating since summer 2023.

Though Kelce wasn't in attendance for the European opening night of the tour, he shared his excitement for Swift's latest shows via social media. "@taylorswift The Eras Tour Europe starts tonight … Paris you're up first … who's coming?

'So High School'

Included in the setlist for the TTPD portion in Paris concert was the track "So High School," one of the album's many songs inspired by Kelce.

Swift added the song into the show by adding it to the end of her performance of "But Daddy I Love Him." While "But Daddy I Love Him" is heavily speculated to be about Swift's ex Matty Healy, some fans think the song's last chorus could be about Kelce because of its lyrics about Swift finding a happy ending after facing backlash for a relationship.

Every Time Travis Kelce Supported Taylor Swift at Her 'Eras Tour' Concerts

"Now I'm dancing in my dress in the sun and / Even my daddy just loves him /I'm his lady, and oh my God / You should see your faces," Swift sang on stage before transitioning into "So High School." The lyrics continue: "Time, doesn't it give some perspective / No, you can't come to the wedding / I know he's crazy but he's the one I want."

While Swift didn't perform the entirety of "So High School," she did include the track's outro. "Truth, dare, spin bottles / You know how to ball, I know Aristotle / Brand-new, full throttle Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto," she sang. "It's true, swear, scout's honor (Yeah) / You knew what you wanted and, boy, you got her / Brand-new, full throttle (Yeah) / You already know, babe / You already know, babe."

Touchdown Moves

Swift's "So High School" performance choreography seemingly included many of Kelce's notable touchdown dance moves. While singing the line, "I feel so high school every time I look at you," one fan pointed out via TikTok that Swift pointed to the crowd in a similar way she would point to Kelce during his NFL games.

In addition to her dancers busting moves reminiscent of cheerleaders, Swift and her dancers appeared to copy many of Kelce's touchdown dances, from rolling their arms to twerking to body rolls and more.

'Swag Surfin'

Another reference incorporated into the "So High School" choreography was the Kansas City Chiefs fans' "Swag Surfin'" dance. The dance, set to the song "Swag Surfin'" by the Fast Life Yungstaz, is done by many NFL fans in celebration of a team's success during football games.

Swift was previously seen participating in the trend alongside Travis' mom, Donna Kelce, and Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, at the team's January 13 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Set Design

The stage for Swift's "So High School" performance featured football stadium lights on the stage's screen, a fan noted via TikTok. The stage's steps that Swift and her dancers sat on featured projections to look like bleachers.

Just Like Taylor

The tour choreography for "So High School" appeared to feature the dancers pretending to watch a game on stadium bleachers. Social media users later pointed out that each performer seemed to mimic one of Swift's facial expressions from when she attended one of Kelce's games by holding their hands up to their faces, hugging and pointing.

After a six-year romance with Taylor Swift, Joe Alwyn is used to internet stans being a little bit catty toward him. Maybe that served as the inspiration for his feline-centric promotion for his new movie with Emma Stone?

Alwyn, 33, shared a still via Instagram on Friday, May 10, from their upcoming film, Kinds of Kindness. He followed the official still with a parody photo of himself and Stone, 35, as cats. The film is Yorgos Lanthimos' follow-up to 2023's Poor Things, which also starred Stone and netted her a Best Actress Oscar earlier this year.

Alwyn and Stone are long-time friends, having worked together on another Lanthimos picture 2018's The Favourite. That relationship hasn't soured in the wake of Alywn's split from Swift, another close friend of the actress (and famous cat lover). Speaking about their time on set, Stone called Alywn "one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet" in press production notes for the movie.

"I love Joe," she shared. "We had to do some pretty dark stuff on this one, so it was extremely comforting to be with him."

Alwyn and Swift called it quits in 2023. Their separation and a subsequent fling with The 1975's Matty Healy inspired much of her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department. The album held equal venom for Healy's alleged pretensions as for fans who criticized Swift's choice of partner. A reference to London pub The Black Dog — along with the insinuation that Alwyn is a regular — caused Swifties to swarm the bar looking for her ex.

"I don't want to give too much away, We do have a certain blond regular who frequents, let's just say that," proprietor Lily Bottomley told Sky News.

The reported haunt of Alwyn became decidedly less conducive to a quiet pint, as Bottomley began to sell Swift-themed items (and reported the highest foot traffic the bar has ever seen).

Taylor Swift's Song Lyrics Decoded: Celebs Featured in Her Songs

While Alwyn and Swift were together, they kept their relationship as buttoned-up and close to the vest as possible. A source close to the couple told Us Weekly that the intense scrutiny of Swift's fans was a sticking point in their relationship. "Joe is very shy and never liked all of the attention that came with dating one of the most popular singers in the world," the insider said.

The spotlight-averse actor has remained mum about the breakup in the wake of TTPD, even while working with one of Swift's collaborators on the project. Stone is credited with contributing "oddities" on "Florida!!!," featuring Florence and the Machine.

Fire Island, written by and starring Joel Kim Booster, may be inspired by Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, but one scene in particular was taken from Booster's real life.

"The 'Heads-up' scene in Fire Island is ripped from the headlines of my life," Booster, 36, tells Us Weekly exclusively as part of his 25 Things You Don't Know About Me feature. "My friends and I are big on game nights and things get competitive. It's how I found out my boyfriend didn't know who Natalie Imbruglia was."

The movie — which also stars Bowen Yang, Conrad Ricamora, James Scully and Margaret Cho — follows a group of gay friends who go on vacation to Fire Island, an island off of New York known for its queer-friendly community.

The "Heads-Up" scene Booster references follows the group as they play an intense round of the iPhone game, which prompts the players to guess the name of a person, place or thing which can be read on the phone held on the forehead of one player.

The players hilariously try to get Ricamora's character, Will, to guess the name of Marisa Tomei by acting out some of her iconic movie scenes.

"No, the defense is wrong!" Keegan (Tomas Matos) and Luke (Matt Rogers) exclaim, imitating Tomei's line in My Cousin Vinny. "My biological clock is ticking like this and the way this case is going, I ain't ever getting married!"

"That's actually the problem with Hollywood," Luke adds. "It's people like you who forget about Marisa Tomei, but they remember Alicia Vikander."

Novak Djokovic was struck in the head with a water bottle following his first-round match at the Italian Open.

The tennis phenom, 36, took to the stands after defeating French player Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-1 on Friday, May 10. Per social media footage shared via X, Djokovic was hit in the head as he approached fans to sign autographs, causing him to fall to the ground in pain.

Security at the event, which is held at Foro Italico in Rome, Italy, quickly ran to Djokovic's aid before ushering him back into the building.

Following the incident, tournament organizers released a statement sharing that the athlete "underwent appropriate medication and has already left the Foro Italico to return to his hotel" and noted that "his condition is not a cause for concern."

Celebrity Health Scares Through the Years

"We're very upset about what happened, and we are trying to figure out who it was and understand the dynamics," Tennis Federation spokesman Alessandro Catapano said in a statement, per Fox News. "The police came and asked for information, but the person who did it had already left. We're going through all of the video and camera angles to see if we can determine what exactly happened."

Hours later, an alternate angle of the moment was posted to X, revealing that the water bottle had fallen from above Djokovic accidentally after it slid out of a fan's backpack.

Friday's match marked Djokovic's first of the tournament, where he sits as the No. 1 seed. His next match will be against 29th-seeded Alejandro Tabilo on Sunday, May 12. Later this month, he will attempt to defend his title at the French Open which kicks off on May 26.

This isn't the first time an accidental injury has occurred on one of Djokovic's courts. During the US Open in September 2020, the player inadvertently hit a lineswoman with a tennis ball and was subsequently disqualified during a fourth-round match against Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta.

During the match, Djokovic appeared frustrated after being down 5-6 in the first set and appearing to suffer a shoulder injury. As he walked off to the sideline for a changeover, he took a ball out of his pocket and his it behind him, striking the woman.

Djokovic was then approached by tournament referee Soeren Friemel and Grand Slam supervisor Andreas Egli who spoke on the court for more than 5 minutes before ultimately deciding to disqualify Djokovic from both the match and the tournament.

"In accordance with the Grand Slam rulebook, following his actions of intentionally hitting a ball dangerously or recklessly within the court or hitting a ball with negligent disregard of the consequences, the US. Open tournament referee defaulted Novak Djokovic from the 2020 US Open," the United Stated Tennis Association said in a statement at the time. "Because he was defaulted, Djokovic will lose all ranking points earned at the US Open and will be fined the prize money won at the tournament in addition to any or all fines levied with respect to the offending incident."

Which Celebs Have Married or Dated Pro Tennis Players? A Guide

Djokovic later addressed the incident via Instagram, writing, "This whole situation has left me really sad and empty. I checked on the lines person and the tournament told me that thank God she is feeling ok. I'm extremely sorry to have caused her such stress. So unintended. So wrong. I'm not disclosing her name to respect her privacy."

He continued, "As for the disqualification, I need to go back within and work on my disappointment and turn this all into a lesson for my growth and evolution as a player and human being. I apologize to the @usopen tournament and everyone associated for my behavior. I'm very grateful to my team and family for being my rock support, and my fans for always being there with me. Thank you and I'm so sorry."
