Teen's 7-Figure Quinceañera Was So Grand, It Included Over 30 Vendors and Her Own Personal McDonald's

A Houston teen's quinceañera became a lavish production that merged deep cultural tradition with innovative, custom-built experiences.

With no budget and over 30 vendors involved, the event featured everything from imported florals to boutique activations.

Texas-based event planner Saira Orozco pushed creative boundaries, leaving a lasting impression on the family, guests and vendors who worked the event.

For many Latino families, a quinceañera is more than just a birthday party — it's a celebration of heritage and a deeply emotional milestone shared between generations. Marking a young girl's transition into womanhood, the event is often months in the making and rich with tradition and family pride.

For Bella Garcia's parents, that significance was never in question. What started as a dream to honor their daughter's big moment soon became something extraordinary — a once-in-a-lifetime celebration that took nearly two years to bring to life and unfolded on a scale few could imagine.

Teen's 7-Figure Quinceañera Was So Grand, It Included Over 30 Vendors and Her Own Personal McDonald's

While extravagant events rich in detail often come at a steep cost, Garcia's quinceañera surpassed even the highest expectations."I would say in the six-figure mark if you want something really grand," Saira Orozco — a Texas-based wedding planner who has planned and designed dozens of high-end events — tells PEOPLE exclusively. "However, hers was obviously a lot more... it was over seven figures. We didn't have a budget."

When planning a quinceañera, the birthday girl traditionally wears a ballgown-style dress — often reminiscent of a princess — for the formal ceremony and reception.Over the years, it's become common for the quinceañera to change into a second look for the livelier part of the evening, when the dance floor opens and the celebration kicks into high gear. This was no exception for Garcia — but like everything about her event, her parents went the extra mile. "She had two designers," Orozco shares. "One for the pink magenta [dress], which was made in Mexico, and then she had another designer for her garden dress. Each gown was custom-made."

Teen's 7-Figure Quinceañera Was So Grand, It Included Over 30 Vendors and Her Own Personal McDonald's

When Garcia's parents — who Orozco refers to as her "unicorn clients" — reached out to begin the planning process, they already had their daughter's dresses being designed, which allowed Orozco to solely focus on the layout, logistics and unique experiences that made this event feel less like a party and more like a fully branded, immersive world built just for the quinceañera.

"When I sat down with Bella's parents in person, I asked them many questions," she recalls. "I was like, 'What are we thinking? How many vendors? What's the theme?' They were like, 'I don't know. You do everything. We trust you and I just don't want to stress.'"

It was the kind of creative freedom most event planners would dream of — but just as the vision for the quince celebration began taking shape, Orozco received some big news of her own. "When her mom Maribel first contacted me in August 2023, the contract wasn't signed until the end of the year, but my mind was already turning," she says. "In January 2024, I found out I was pregnant, and somehow I was building both a baby and this production at the same time."With a massive event on the horizon and her second baby on the way, Orozco had no time to waste. "I was sick as a dog," she recalls. "But [she approached Garcia] and was like, 'Okay, I need a brain dump from you. Let's just talk it all out — what do you want? What are you envisioning? What are you dreaming of?'"

The Drakes www.wearethedrakes.com / Instagram: @wethedrakes

Teen's 7-Figure Quinceañera Was So Grand, It Included Over 30 Vendors and Her Own Personal McDonald's

Garcia's answer was simple: flowers, pink and something whimsical. "She said she wanted people to feel like they were walking into a wonderland," Orozco recalls. "I was like, 'Okay, I got it. Now let me go back into my cave and think.'"

To bring Bella's wonderland to life, Orozco's vision was to create "a full Parisian-inspired experience.""We wanted boutique shops like stepping into a dreamy little city curated just for Bella," she says. "We brought in Picnics in the City to handle a massive custom build-out, Royal Luxury Events for florals and large-scale production and the incredibly talented Rachel Hendrix, whose custom illustrations were featured throughout the space, adding such a personal, whimsical layer.""I had Rachel Hendricks," Orozco says. "She does a lot of celebrity doodles like the Kardashians, so I reached out to her and she did 'Bella's doodles.'"Orozco enlisted the help of over 30 vendors with more than a thousand people working in some capacity. Each was carefully chosen to execute a specific piece of the vision."It was a huge tree with many branches," she explains. "But I wanted everyone to really focus on what they were doing."The result? A quinceañera party so grand, guests and vendors alike began sharing their behind-the-scenes experiences on TikTok, documenting everything from the elaborate décor to the specialty coffee bar and IV lounge.

Looking back, Garcia says what made the night unforgettable wasn't just the scale or the surprises, but how deeply personal the entire experience felt."One aspect of my quinceañera that I will never forget is how much fun I had throughout the entire celebration," Bella Garcia tells PEOPLE exclusively. "It was truly special to have so many of the things I love brought together in one place, creating an unforgettable experience."The florals alone — which included thousands of imported blooms, custom draping and specialty rentals — accounted for nearly half of the seven-figure budget. "We had four containers come in," Orozco says. "About 90 percent of her event was custom."Beyond florals and décor, the event offered a series of fully branded experiences — each one designed to feel like a page out of Garcia's world. "Bella wanted several boutiques and experiences," Orozco says.

Teen's 7-Figure Quinceañera Was So Grand, It Included Over 30 Vendors and Her Own Personal McDonald's

"So we had her coffee shop, a merch shop, a flower shop, we had the McDonald's — which read McQuince in pink neon lights — and we had an IV bar."When asked about her favorite part of the event, Garcia felt that everything came together smoothly."I have several favorite moments that truly stood out to me," Garcia recalls. "Receiving my car was an unforgettable surprise. The excitement and joy of not knowing it was coming made it even more special. Another highlight was the perfume station, which was a hit with all my guests, especially my close friends."Garcia's quinceañera celebration ran from 5 p.m. until three in the morning — a nearly 10-hour event that required round-the-clock preparation and oversight.

Her guests felt the magic too. "My aunt said that walking into my quinceañera after the delicious and refreshing cocktail hour felt like stepping into a fairytale," Garcia adds. "She said everything was so beautifully curated and completely captured my essence. It was posh, it was full of pizzazz and it was perfect."For Orozco, the physical toll came shortly after. "Literally for a month and a half after her event," she says, noting, "I got the flu and strep throat literally right after — my body just shut down."

Teen's 7-Figure Quinceañera Was So Grand, It Included Over 30 Vendors and Her Own Personal McDonald's

As for Garcia and her family, the celebration didn't end there. A month or so later, they hosted another quinceañera party in Mexico — complete with over 2,000 guests, live bands and even more festive flair."They all outdid themselves," Orozco says. "It was amazing."

The MLB All-Star Game is heading to Wrigley Field on July 13, 2027, the league announced Friday.

"The hard work put in to transform all of Wrigleyville into an outstanding destination deserves to be celebrated and shared on a national stage," MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. "We look forward to bringing the Midsummer Classic back to historic Wrigley Field and working alongside the Cubs, city and state officials, and the local organizing group to bring an extraordinary experience to the baseball fans of Chicago.

"Most importantly, Major League Baseball and its partners will leave behind a lasting impact on the communities across Chicago through the meaningful initiatives of the All-Star Legacy program."

[Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season]

It will be the fourth time Wrigley Field has hosted the Midsummer Classic and first since 1990, which saw Ryne Sandberg of the Cubs win the Home Run Derby and the American League beat the National League, 2-0.

The Cubs spent more than half a billion dollars on a multi-phase renovation of the ballpark that was completed in 2019 to help their case in hosting the game. In June, the Chicago City Council approved a $32.1 million plan to upgrade security around the stadium.

The Atlanta Braves hosted the 2025 All-Star festivities at Truist Park, and the 2026 All-Star Game will take place at the Philadelphia Phillies' Citizens Bank Park.

Gaudreau Family 5K raises more than $500,000 for accessible playground at special education school

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The first 5K held in the memory of John and Matt Gaudreau helped raise more than $500,000, enough to break ground later this year on an accessible playground at the special education school where the hockey players' mother works.

Thousands attended the Gaudreau Family 5K Walk /Run and Family Day in May at Washington Lake Park in southern New Jersey, a place John and Matthew went hundreds of times as kids and around the corner from Hollydell Ice Arena, where they started playing hockey. The 5K drew more than 1,100 participants in the walk, along with more than 1,100 virtually in the U.S., Canada and around the world.

From money raised in the walk, along with contributions made in memory of John and Matt, the financial goal was met for the planned accessible playground at Archbishop Damiano School, where Jane Gaudreau and her daughter Kristen work. It was a cause John and Matthew had begun to champion in honor of their grandmother Marie, who spent 44 years at the school and died in 2023.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for late August/early September, with Oct. 4 tentatively set for the start of a community build.

After a brief scare of a tornado watch the night before, the 5K went off without a hitch.

"Because of the rain, we had so many people we thought might not show up," Gaudreau said. "But I felt like it was such a great turnout. So many people asked us if we're going to do it again next year. It just such an outpouring of love and care, so much for the boys in our family."

To answer the question, yes: The next Gaudreau Family 5K Walk is tentatively scheduled for May 16, 2026.

The Gaudreau brothers — John played 10 full seasons in the NHL with Calgary and Columbus — were killed last August on the eve of their sister's wedding when they were hit by a suspected drunken driver while riding bicycles in their home state of New Jersey.

The playground initiative was launched by principal Michele McCloskey in October 2020. Raising the necessary funds over the last five years had been a slow build. So many friends from the hockey world and others now inspired by the brothers and the cause have since rallied around the effort.

"We heard so much from everyone how much they appreciated everything (the brothers) did for the community, and so they turned around and helped us out," Gaudreau said. "We heard a lot of nice stories, a lot of people were just so generous, just wanting to be there for our family and whatever they could do to keep John and Matty's legacy alive, which is what we wanted from the playground and to go forward from here."

The Gaudreaus and the staff at Archbishop Damiano threw themselves into fundraising for a modern playground that allows for everything from basic wheelchair accessibility to ramps and transfer platforms for the students. Students tacked their wish list for the playground to the walls inside the school. The 5K event also included an online memorabilia auction that stretched beyond hockey, with all proceeds donated toward the playground effort and its original $600,000 goal.

The new area for the playground has been staked out and the equipment has been ordered, yet there is still work ahead. The Gaudreaus and the school needed everything from 175 tons of crushed concrete to beach sand to other construction materials to complete the project."It's just planning out our community build, which we'll need assistance on," Gaudreau said.

Archbishop Damiano School was founded in 1968 for children with Down syndrome and now provides services for 125 students with special needs from ages 3 to 21. Jane Gaudreau's brother attended the school and their mother worked there. Jane was hired in 1984 and is still a finance associate. Kristen, the older daughter, has taught at the school for almost two decades. Katie, the younger daughter, who got married in July, used to assist with the kids when she could, and the two Gaudreau boys volunteered at the school when they weren't playing hockey.

JEHAD ALSHRAFIAugust 2, 2025 at 3:52 AM

1 / 8Mideast Wars Gaza Starvation Photo EssaySamah Matar poses for a photo with her sons Yousef, 6, in her arms, and Amir, 4, who suffer from malnutrition and cerebral palsy, at a U.N.-run school in Gaza City, Saturday, July 26, 2025. In Gaza, malnutrition is often worsened by preexisting conditions and compounded by illnesses linked to inadequate health care and poor sanitation, largely the result of the ongoing war. (AP Photo/Jehad Alshrafi)

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — In some tents and shelters in northern Gaza, emaciated children are held in their parents' arms. Their tiny arms and legs dangle limp. Their shoulder blades and ribs stick out from skeletal bodies slowly consuming themselves for lack of food.

Starvation always stalks the most vulnerable first. Kids with preexisting conditions, like cerebral palsy, waste away quickly because the high-calorie foods they need have run out, along with nutritional supplements.

But after months of Israeli blockade and turmoil in the distribution of supplies, children in Gaza with no previous conditions are also starting to die from malnutrition, aid workers and doctors say.

Over the past month, 25 children have died of malnutrition-related causes, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, though it's not known how many had other conditions. The ministry, part of the Hamas-run government, is staffed by medical professionals and its figures on war deaths are seen by the U.N. and other experts as the most reliable estimate of casualties.

Salem Awad was born in January with no medical problems, the youngest of six children, his mother Hiyam Awad said. But she was too weak from lack of food to breastfeed him.

For the first two months of Salem's life, there was a ceasefire in Gaza, and more aid entered, but even then it was hard to find milk for him, his mother said. In March, Israel cut off all food from entering the territory for more than 2 ½ months.

Since then, Salem has been wasting away. Now he weighs 4 kilograms (9 pounds), his mother said. "He just keeps losing weight. At the hospital, they say if he doesn't get milk, he could die," she said, speaking in the family's tent in Gaza City.

Israel has been allowing a trickle of aid into Gaza since late May. After an international outcry over increasing starvation, it introduced new measures last weekend it says are intended to increase the amount of food getting to the population, including airdrops and pauses in military operations in some areas. But so far, they have not had a significant effect, aid groups say.

Food experts warned this week the "worst-case scenario of famine is playing out in Gaza." The U.N. says the impact of hunger building for months is quickly worsening, especially in Gaza City and other parts of northern Gaza, where it estimates nearly one in five children is now acutely malnourished.

Across Gaza, more than 5,000 children were diagnosed with malnutrition this month, though that is likely an undercount, the U.N. says. Malnutrition was virtually nonexistent before the war. Doctors struggle to treat the children because many supplies have run out, the U.N. says.

Israel denies a famine is taking place or that children are starving. It says it has supplied enough food throughout the war and accuses Hamas of causing shortages by stealing aid and trying to control food distribution.

Humanitarian groups deny that significant diversion of food takes place. Throughout nearly 22 months of war, the number of aid trucks has been far short of the roughly 500 a day the U.N. says is needed.

The impact is seen most strongly in children with special needs — and those who have been grievously wounded in Israeli bombardment.

Mosab al-Dibs, 14, suffered a heavy head wound on May 7 when an airstrike hit next to his family's tent. For about two months, he has been at Shifa Hospital, largely paralyzed, only partly conscious and severely malnourished because the facility no longer has the supplies to feed him, said Dr. Jamal Salha.

Mosab's mother, Shahinaz al-Dibs, said the boy was healthy before the war, but that since he was wounded, his weight has fallen from 40 kilograms to less than 10 (88 to 22 pounds)

At his bedside, she moves his spindly arms to exercise them. The networks of tiny blue veins are visible through the nearly transparent skin over his protruding ribs. The boy's eyes dart around, but he doesn't respond.

His mother puts some bread soaked in water — the only food she can afford — into a large syringe and squirts it into his mouth in a vain attempt to feed him. Most of it dribbles out from his lips. What he needs is a nutrient formula suitable for tube feeding that the hospital doesn't have, Salha said.

At a school-turned-shelter for displaced people in Gaza City, Samah Matar cradles her son Yousef as his little brother Amir lies on a cushion beside her — both of them emaciated. The two boys have cerebral palsy and also need a special diet.

"Before the war, their health situation was good," said Matar. They could get the foods they needed, but now "all those things have disappeared, and their health has declined continually."

Yousef, 6 years old, has dropped from 14 kilograms (30 pounds) before the war to 9 kilograms (19 pounds) now. His 4-year-old brother, Amir, has shrunk from 9 kilograms to under 6 (19 to 13 pounds), she said.
