"I think the hardest thing I have ever had to do was say goodbye to you and I haven't managed it yet," Beckinsale said

Kate Beckinsale is remembering the best parts of her mother's life after her death.

In a tribute shared to her Instagram account on Friday, Sept. 5, the 52-year-old actress shared a video made up of photos from Judy Loe's celebration of life. She died at the age of 78 on July 15.

She was previously diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

"Dearest Mama, The fact that you have had to have a funeral at all is wrong and ludicrous," Beckinsale began as the caption to the post, which was set to James Taylor's "You Can Close Your Eyes."

She remembered Loe, who was also an actress, as "the biggest lover of life, the most energetic, the most vital , the most joyous."

Pictures showed the Canary Black actress greeting guests throughout the celebration of her late mother's life. Others smiled as they consoled one another.

"The only mandate you gave me over the years was that you wanted a celebration of your life and that no one was to wear black so no one did," Beckinsale, who wore a white, strapless dress, continued in the caption.

She paired it with one of her famous big bows added to her hair.

Beckinsale was photographed speaking at the podium where her mother's celebration of life was held, but noted in her caption that she only "got two hours sleep on a hard sofa" the night before and considered not going "because I was afraid I couldn't handle it."

However, the Total Recall actress was able to pull through, eventually realizing "someone would be able to have a funeral that was so full of love and happiness and joy, which is all because of you and who you are and what you brought."

Other images from Loe's service showed doves being released in front of a portrait of her in her younger years.

"You are a bridge builder, a hoarder of love, an archiver of precious, history, of respect for years of friendship and my God that showed.. I think the hardest thing I have ever had to do was say goodbye to you and I haven't managed it yet," Beckinsale continued.

She also said there have been times when she wanted to text her mom, but remembered that she won't reply.

Still, the Serendipity star said she could feel her mother's presence at the ceremony: "I very much feel you attended in some vaporous way, blew the f---ing roof off Chiswick House."

Beckinsale added that people of all ages, from "3 to their mid 80s," are a testament to "the love [Loe] inspired."

She then opened up about coping with the loss, which she described as a "lump of cement in my stomach," but knew the community of friends her mother built will be there for her.

"I love you, Mama. You are in my blood. You are in my bones ,you are in my heart ,broken or not you are there. I love you so much," Beckinsale concluded.
