Brad Pitt stars in De'Longhi's new Taika Waititi–directed espresso campaign

The spot reimagines the user manual with humor, Italian flair and scenic New Zealand backdrops

Brad Pitt is back on coffee duty — this time with a comedic twist.

The actor stars in De'Longhi's latest global campaign, The Perfetto Instruction for Use, directed by Academy Award winner Taika Waititi.

With Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio providing a cheeky voiceover, the short film reimagines the user manual as a tongue-in-cheek guide to effortless espresso making.

"Taika brought the humor, De'Longhi brought the ritual," Pitt said in a statement. "Together, that was perfetto."

The new spot builds on Pitt's 2021 debut with the brand, but instead of leaning into elegance and artistry, this round highlights ease and fun. Shot against the stunning backdrops of New Zealand, the campaign shows how even the smallest moments of a morning ritual — from the hiss of steam to the first swirl of crema — can embody calm and indulgence.

In the short film, Pitt walks into his picturesque kitchen and heads for the coffeemaker on his counter. "Buongiorno [good morning, Brad," Scamarcio says in the voiceover as Pitt looks around, confused. "Turn on your De'Longhi."

"I know," Pitt says and presses a button on the LED screen on the machine. Scamarcio (as the machine's user manual) reminded him to "check your beans" in the top compartment and then "make your drink in just one touch."

Scamarcio reassures him that only one touch is needed. Pitt continues to let the De'Longhi make his cappuccino and then catches the relaxing air outside in a lounge chair.

"Enjoy the view, smell it," says the voiceover, as Pitt takes in a deep breath to smell the open air. "No, no, Brad. What are you doing? Not the view, the coffee." Pitt goes on, smells his coffee, sips from his glass and perfects his pronunciation of "perfetto" with the voiceover.

In working with the star, Waititi told PEOPLE exclusively that he enjoyed the process of working with the F1 actor. "Watching Brad make four thousand coffees brought me great joy," he said. "It was the highlight of my February!"

Central to the campaign are two of De'Longhi's one-touch fully automatic espresso machines. The Rivelia uses Bean Switch technology to let users swap between coffee varieties in seconds, while the Eletta Explore offers over 50 recipes at the touch of a button, including hot espresso, lattes, cappuccinos and cold brew. Both are designed to bring café-quality coffee to the home kitchen with zero fuss.

De'Longhi's Global CMO, Aparna Sundaresh, said the collaboration captures the company's signature mix of Italian craft and innovation, now with a bigger dash of humor: "The Brad Pitt and Taika Waititi collaboration created a unique take on Perfetto – the best blend of craft, humour and coffee."

Coffee fans are also invited to share their own #Perfetto moments on social media to celebrate the morning ritual, which has the potential to turn a cup of coffee into something more than just a caffeine boost.
