An active shooter warning was issued at Villanova University's Pennsylvania campus on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 21.
The school told students to stay clear of the Law School's Scarpa Hall.
"Police on scene. Move to secure location. Lock/barricade doors. More info to follow," the school's alert said. "Police continue to search area. Remain sheltered in place until further notice."
The Radnor Township Police Department said in a post on X that it was reporting to the Villanova campus.
"Radnor Township Police Department are on location at Villanova University for a report of an active shooter. All nearby residents and students are asked to SHELTER IN PLACE AT this time," they said.
The active shooter warning comes on the first day of new student orientation, according to a university academic calendar, and just hours after another active shooter was reported on the University of Tennessee's campus in Chattanooga. An all-clear was issued for that campus shortly after the initial report.
