On Monday, Aug. 25, The Wonder Years star, 50, shared recent snaps on Instagram recapping her mother-son trip to Hawaii. In the photos, she and her son Darco, 14, posed in matching outfits and bright smiles. One of the pictures showed how her son now "towers" over his mother.
"Hawaii!! 🌺 Yes, my son and I are wearing matching outfits we bought there, and yes he now TOWERS over me (see 3rd pic) 😂," she wrote in the caption. "Fortuitously, my sister and family happened to be in Hawaii on one of the days we were there(!) so swipe to see our bikini shot 😋 and then swipe again to see how I really looked on most of the vacation (sun protection haha 😂)."
"It was four days of pure relaxation before a very busy time for me, and I'm so grateful for these mother-son moments, whatever the location! 🙏🙏🙏" she continued. "Yes that's my sister Crystal McKellar who played Becky Slater on The Wonder Years. 😁"

McKellar and her ex-husband, composer Mike Verta, welcomed their first and only child together in September 2010. For the published author, becoming a mom changed her life forever.
"You tap into this love that you didn't even know was possible," she told PEOPLE in June 2013. "I thought I knew what love was, but it's crazy. ... I love Draco with everything that I am — there's no question about it."
At the beginning of her parenthood journey, the actress shared that she went through a learning curve. Now that she's raising a teenager, she sometimes feels like life is going by too fast.
"I've been hearing people say that since Draco was a baby, and I have just been determined not to think or live that way," she explained to ROUTE Magazine.

According to McKellar, it comes down to being a present parent, and despite occasionally struggling with this, she takes "mental snapshots" of her son to stay in the moment.
"I'll just stare at Draco's face, and he'll be like, 'What are you doing?' I'm like, 'I'm just taking you in right now.' I just really absorb every moment," she said.
The proud mom is always sharing clips and pictures with her son on social media. Recently, in May, McKellar posted a video of her and her son doing the whisk dance challenge.
"Mother-son #whisk dance challenge! Ages 50 & 14 😁Couldn't resist 'jumping' on this one! 💃🕺 This was SO much fun to put together!! #sambawhisk #samba #fitandfifty 💪," she wrote in the caption. "Mom tip: Use your kids to stay young! Love to hear your tips, too! 🤗"
