Christy Turlington and daughter Grace Burns made a rare red carpet appearance together in Venice on Thursday, Aug. 28.
The mother-daughter duo posed together at the Diane von Furstenberg Awards ceremony, with Turlington, 56, wearing a silky, mixed-fabric black dress with a leg slit, paired with pointed-toe black shoes and her hair swept into a chic updo.
Burns, 21, opted for a brown and white polka-dot silk maxi dress with a train that trailed behind her on the carpet. The young model's hair was also worn in an updo, with her bangs framing her face.
The supermodel received the DVF Leadership Award for her work with the non-profit organization Every Mother Counts. The ceremony was held at the historic Teatro Goldoni theater.
Von Furstenberg 78, known for popularizing the wrap dress, partnered with The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation to found The DVF Awards in 2010 to "recognize, support and amplify the voices of extraordinary women who are dedicated to improving the lives of other women," per a statement on their official website.
Each year, five awards are granted to women honorees who are active in their humanitarian efforts. The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation provides grants to the non-profit of each honoree's choice.

"I believe we learn most from examples around us. I hope my actions and the way I choose to live my life teach my children what I value," she explained. "I think it is vital that my children see as much of the world as possible, as that's how I learned most everything that matters.
