German Shepherd Mix's Wobbly Walk After Drinking Alcohol Is a Serious Warning

There’s nothing quite like coming home and discovering that your dog has gotten into something he absolutely shouldn’t have. Maybe it’s the garbage. Maybe it’s a bag of treats. Or, if you’re a German Shepherd mix named Jack, apparently it’s Bailey’s and vodka. Sir, you are a dog. You have no business anywhere near the liquor cabinet, and somebody needs to explain this to you immediately.
In the video, Jack’s mom asks him to walk, and the poor guy attempts to make his way across the hardwood floor. Unfortunately, walking in a straight line has suddenly become a rather complicated assignment. His legs aren’t cooperating, and he looks like somebody trying to navigate a hotel hallway after a very long wedding reception. The sight is startling, but there’s a serious reason to be concerned about what’s happening.
The clip shared by the TikTok account for @CuddlePlanet shows Jack moving unsteadily as his mom encourages him to walk. According to the information accompanying the video, the German Shepherd mix got into Bailey’s and vodka while she was away.
Jack’s wobbly movements might remind people of an adult who’s had far too much to drink, but alcohol affects dogs differently than humans, and even relatively small amounts can cause dangerous poisoning.

I can only imagine the shock of discovering what he’d gotten into. Most of us spend our time worrying about dogs stealing socks, chewing shoes, or raiding the kitchen trash.
Jack apparently decided to investigate the adult beverages.
And because Bailey’s is sweet and creamy, it’s especially important to keep drinks like that completely out of reach of curious pets. Alcohol isn’t the only potential concern, either. Rich, fatty ingredients can cause gastrointestinal problems.
The video is certainly memorable, but Jack’s staggering is not something to laugh off or wait out at home.
Hopefully, this mischievous doggo received prompt veterinary attention and made a complete recovery. The clip alone doesn’t establish his medical outcome.
What to Do If Your Dog Gets Into Alcohol?
Alcohol poisoning in dogs can become life-threatening quickly, so it’s important to act immediately if you suspect your dog has swallowed any alcoholic beverage.
Symptoms may include:
Staggering or difficulty walking
Vomiting or excessive drooling
Unusual sleepiness or weakness
Low body temperature
Slow or difficult breathing
Tremors, seizures, or collapse
If your dog drinks alcohol, contact an emergency veterinarian or animal poison control immediately, even if symptoms haven’t appeared.
You can reach the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 888-426-4435 or Pet Poison Helpline at 855-764-7661. Consultation fees may apply.
Do not induce vomiting or give home remedies unless a veterinary professional specifically instructs you to do so.
Keep alcoholic beverages, cocktails, and alcohol-containing foods securely away from pets, especially during the holiday season when everyone is distracted and company is over.
Jack’s adventure is a powerful reminder that curious dogs can get into dangerous things in a matter of minutes.
Let’s hope his future adventures involve tennis balls instead of vodka.
