Dana Carveyhas the best memories of his time onSaturday Night Live.

The actor, 70, appeared on the latest installment ofThe Rundown, a new short-form series fromColin Jostlooking back at some of SNL's most unforgettable sketches, challenging alumni of the sketch comedy show to pick a favorite.

"With Garth, he didn't have a lot of lines, but Mike told me that Garth worshipped Wayne. So I started really enjoying his little jokes," he shared of the signature sketch, which led to the filmsWayne's World(1992) andWayne's World 2(1993).

"Mike MyersisWayne's World," Carvey declared onThe Rundown. "He built the house. He let me rent a room."

The particularWayne's Worldsketch Carvey picked came from an episode whereAerosmithwas the musical guest. "When we knew Aerosmith was going to be the musical guest, and they worshipped that era of rock and worshiped Aerosmith."

It was made even more special by the fact that Carvey got to perform theWayne's Worldtheme with the band. "I was allowed to play drums on the theme song. And the first time I rehearsed it, Steven Tyler looked around and he laughed so hard," theMaster of Disguiseactor said.

"They are party on," the Emmy winner said of the recurring characters. "They are just joy, fun. To me, the secret sauce was the so-called two losers in town, they live with their parents, they have no money, they have an AMC Pacer, and they're by far the happiest people in the town."

Carvey added, "You always want to get in a really big, funny sketch with your friends, where everything just flows and is landing."

Elsewhere in the appearance, Carvey talks about mastering his infamous impersonation ofSNLcreator Lorne Michaels.

"The way I learned to do Lorne would be after the read through on Wednesday, and we'd have a ton of sketches we just read, 50 of them," he explained. "And then Lorne would try to put them on the rundown for the show. Very frustrated, he said, 'Um... I still have no f---ing first act.' "

Carvey last appeared onSNLin 2024, starring as Joe Biden and other characters for several episodes. As for film, his last role was as the voice of Pops in 2019'sTheSecret Life of Pets 2.
