Bay Melnick Virgolino, 10, rocks his second 'America's Got Talent' performance
A pint-sized guitarist, 10-year-old Bay Melnick Virgolino, had the America's Got Talent audience rocking out on Monday's second round of the quarterfinals.
He is young, yes, but not shy about showing celebrity judges Mel B, Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara what he could do with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts' "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" in the last moments of the live episode. They were loving it as much as the crowd.
"Wow, wow, wow!" Vergara said. "What a way to close the show. You're like a mini rock star!"
Mel B was also a fan, mostly.
"Well, for a start, you're only 10 years old, and you're doing this already?!" she said. And while she noted that his vocals "weren't perfect" — Cowell and Mandel both gave that comment a "come on!" — but the guitar playing and commitment had been "on point," she added.
Mandel declared the performance "actually perfect," and he chided the former Spice Girl for having approved of a previous act, dancer Alex Zinger, who really has to be seen to be believed.
When host Terry Crews asked Cowell for his evaluation, he cited the crowd, which wouldn't stop cheering.
"Well, I mean, listen!" Cowell said. "That's what it all about. Honestly, you're so young. You came out here with this real, real attitude, confidence, stage presence, the right song. You absolutely nailed that, seriously."

Cowell assured him that he was "better" than he had been last time.
During the audition phase, Virgolino was just as amazing, belting out Lenny Kravitz's "Are You Gonna Go My Way."
Before he stepped out on the stage for his second appearance on the NBC show, Virgolino recounted all that had happened since his take on that 1993 hit. For starters, Kravitz himself complimented him on social media, writing, "You are truly gifted" and that he looked forward to playing with him one day.
Virgolino also said that people in his apartment building and in the street have been stopping him to take a photo with him.
Voting for the 11 acts that performed is open at the show's website until 7 a.m. ET/4 a.m. PT Wednesday. The three acts with the most votes, as well as Mel B's Golden Buzzer choice, rapper Mama Duke, will be moving forward.
The results will be revealed on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
