The star becomes simply the 19th individual to hitch the exclusive club of EGOT winners — people who have gained an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award in competitive categories (not an honorary award). Before John, the final individual to EGOT was Viola Davis.
John began his street to EGOT with a Grammy win in 1987, profitable Greatest Pop Efficiency by a Duo or Group for "That's What Associates Are For" with Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight & Stevie Marvel. (He went on to win four extra Grammys). He was not on the Emmys this evening, so government producers Ben Winston Gabe Turner accepted the award on his behalf.
"We knew this show can be historic because it was Elton's last ever present in North America on tour, we knew it'd be historic because it was Disney's first-ever stay stream, we didn't comprehend it was going to be historic as a result of it was going to win a person, who has created the soundtrack to all of our lives, who has carried out so much nice for society, who is all of our heroes, we didn't comprehend it was going to win him an EGOT," Winston stated.
