Colin Jost and Michael Cheare keeping their most beloved, and shocking, "SNL" tradition going.
For the final episode of"Saturday Night Live"in 2025, the "Weekend Update" anchors once again brought back their fan-favorite joke swap segment. The recurring bit involves the comedians giving each other jokes to read that the other person has supposedly not seen before, which are generally offensive things they wouldn't want to say on television.
But this time, there was a twist: Che was the only one who wrote any jokes. When Che introduced and explained the segment, Jost expressed surprise.
"That's interesting, because you specifically said that we were not doing it this year," he said, noting that "I did not write any jokes for you."

It was unclear whether this was simply part of the bit or whether Jost was legitimately surprised. But this premise set up a segment consisting of Jost alone being forced to read inappropriate jokes. The first was an offensive joke about slavery, while the second was about church sexual abuse. Finally, there was a joke about Jost's wife,Scarlett Johansson.
"New research shows that millions of women leave the workforce due to menopause, which means there's only a couple years left on my gravy train," Jost read as a picture of Johansson was shown. "My girl already be like, 'Colin, I'm warm. Colin, I'm sweating. B----, you having a hot flash!' "
"But don't worry about me: I got a backup," Jost said, and a picture of 23-year-old "Wednesday" starJenna Ortegawas shown. "They don't call Wednesday hump day for nothing."
Jost and Che have maintained their joke swap tradition for years, typically reviving the bit during every Christmas episode and season finale.

The joke swap duringlast year's Christmas episodewent to some particularly jaw-dropping places after Che made Jost read a vulgar joke about Johansson. But that time, Johansson was actually in the building for the taping, so the episode showed her reacting to the punchline in shock.
Jost got his revenge the following Mayduring the Season 50 finale joke swap. In the segment, Jost made Che read an apology to Johansson, who joined them at the "Weekend Update" desk.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to apologize to someone I hurt," Che read, directing the apology to Johansson.
"The fact is, I was just lashing out because I'm jealous," Che read. "I've never even seen a human vagina. And notice I said human, because I once spent the summer on a farm."
