On the new episode of Below Deck, Cat Baugh opened up about her "trauma" from her time in a spiritual cult.

"It's quite evident that Cat is a very sensitive soul. I really feel like she may need to be heard a bit more," Fraser Olender informed the cameras on Monday, February 19, after noticing Cat had hassle adjusting to the inside group. "I by no means had somebody to look after me on this scary business. And so I need to be that for someone else."

Cat subsequently stunned Fraser when she revealed that Baugh wasn't her real last name.

"I was in foster care. My dad handed away once I was 9 from A number of sclerosis. After which my mom passed away once I was 13 simply in her sleep. It was very sudden and no [they don't know what it was]," she defined. "So me and my brother have been thrown into the system and separated."

In response to Cat, she was cared for by a controlling group of individuals, adding, "The family I lived with I don't speak to as a result of they have been like a cult religion."

Cat's foster family wouldn't allow her to remain in touch together with her brother.

"We have been [in the same state]. However they wouldn't even let me speak to him as a result of he wasn't spiritual," she continued. "It was that extreme of a faith that they wouldn't even let me converse to my own organic brother."

In a confessional, Cat provided extra details about her difficult home life, sharing, "So I grew up in Orange County, California, with a foster family in a place referred to as Yorba Linda. From 13 to 18, I used to be a part of this family's tradition and life and dynamic."

Cat stated she felt as if her foster household didn't truly care about her well-being.

"Every thing was for reward within the church and I felt like I used to be just a prop to them," she famous. "It was virtually like they needed to overlook my past life. I felt so suppressed and I never stood up for myself."

It wasn't till Cat turned 18 that she was capable of take control of her life.

"Because I needed to proceed a relationship with my biological brother, they have been like, 'No. We don't help that,'" she continued. "Once I turned 18, I made a decision to decide on my brother and choose my life. I decided to stay for me and that's once I turned probably the most unbiased. Now me and my brother are so close. He's like my greatest pal."

Below Deck viewers have seen Cat struggle to seek out her place on the interior group since she joined the franchise in January 2024. Earlier this season, Cat ended up at odds with fellow stews Barbie Pascual and Xandi Olivier. She provided more particulars during Monday's episode on how her childhood affected her work ethic.

"Simply growing up with a number of trauma, it makes you very insecure about yourself. The foster family I was with did loads of issues that made me really feel like I was just not good," she recalled. "You had to be good. So how individuals view my work ethic is very important to me. I don't need to be seen as weak. It actually makes me have main nervousness."

Below Deck's Biggest Drama Through the Years

Cat wasn't the only one to share surprising details about her previous. In his own confessional, Fraser revealed the obstacles he faced on his way to becoming a chief steward.

"My first job on a ship, I was a crew mess stew. Which signifies that I used to be a crew member to the crew. We are talking bottom of the barrel bottom. On my first day, the chief engineer had came upon that I was gay and was very homophobic," Fraser defined. "Whilst I was washing dishes in the sink, he poured his boiling scorching tea that I simply made for him over my palms and that was my first day in yachting."

He continued: "And I looked at him and I advised myself, 'Maintain f—king going. As a result of at some point, none of it will f—king matter. And you will be on the prime. And in the future you'll get him fired.' And in the future, I did."
