PEOPLE got an exclusive first look at the Magnolia Network founders' new show,Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House, which follows the married duo as they tackle their first-everFixer Upperproject outside of their home state of Texas.
In the exclusive clip above from the upcoming premiere episode (out Dec. 9), Chip, 51, and Joanna, 47, walk through which features they want to get rid of inside their family's future vacation home — and thedad of fivequickly takes matters into his own hands.
"So, the railing goes," Joanna says.
"This railing goes?" Chip confirms as he gently touches the wooden banister. After giving Joanna a thumbs up, he unexpectedly kicks the railing with his foot and his wife quickly backs away.
As he continues trying to push the railing out of its foundation with his foot, Joanna says with a shocked expression, "Baby, don't fall down the stairs."

When the railing still doesn't budge, Chip starts to tug it back and forth, which prompts Joanna to leave the area entirely saying, "I don't want to be a part of this."
After it finally comes loose with a loud crunching noise, he then chucks the entire structure down the stairs. The individual pieces can be heard clattering against each step while Chip looks on proudly.
The scene cuts to the couple standing outside of the property, where Chip describes the aftermath of the demo process.
"I'm glad I got to demo that stair rail. That really felt great," he says, before adding with a shrug, "It wasn't like a demo at all, it was like, 'dem-meh.'"
Joanna looks at her husband and lets out a chuckle as the clip comes to an end.

In the latest installment of their fan-favorite renovation franchise, Chip and Joanna will transform a 1960s mountain property into their family's vacation home. The renovation will incorporate the build's original mid-century features with European-inspired touches, according to a press release from the network.
Viewers will get to see the serene spot become the family's very own retreat in the three-part limited series. The couple share five children together: sons Drake, 20, Duke, 17, and Crew, 7, as well daughters Ella, 19, and Emmie, 15.

"Colorado has come to be a special place for our family," Joanna says in the release. "And somewhere in-between ski trips and spring breaks over the last decade, a dream took root to one day carve out a place of our own."
She continues, "While takingFixer Upperout of state meant we were in for a steep learning curve, our hope is that this home would far outlast us, and we can't wait to share it with you."
